On Christmas Eve, 2024, the Hansen Brothers and their father went for a ride in Steep Hollow in the Franklin Basin Area. One of the riders triggered a large avalanche that caught, carried, and buried the older brother. The younger brother used a transceiver to quickly find and rescue his buried brother.
